This Monday December 21, 2020 during the Ministerial Council held in video-conference, President Macron reminded the importance of being careful with this new threat: the mutation of Covid-19 found in the United-Kingdom these past couple of days. Therefore, joint borders with the British country have been closed for many European countries.

Emmanuel Macron is particularly worried about the new variant of the virus. As the French President is infected with Covid-19 and currently self-isolating, he wanted to recall during the Ministerial council held this Monday December 21, 2020 in video conference, the importance of being “particularly careful”.

And for good reason: the Covid-19 mutation reported a few days ago in the United Kingdom has members of the European Union very worried. As the Holidays are just around the corner, the problematic mutation of the virus leads to the closure of borders with the country concerned. Italy has already reported one case of patient infected with the new variant of the disease in the country. The United-Kingdom is partially back into lockdown, and Italy fully is.

In the meantime, the former Covid-19 version keeps on infecting many people on France. All in all, as of Monday December 21, there are 2,745 people in ICU because of the disease.
