WHO is worried about the increase in positive Covid-19 cases in the world. This Wednesday March 17, 2021, the UN World Health Agency warns about the new increase in new positive coronavirus cases. In a report, the organization thinks that over 3 million new Covid-19 cases have been reported last week in the world, that is to say a 10% increase.

"After peaking in early January 2021 when there were just under 5 million cases, new cases then declined to around 2.5 million in the week commencing 15 February 2021 but in the past three weeks have increased again", WHO writes in their latest epidemiologic report.

Given data released by WHO depending on the different geographical areas, the increase in new Coronavirus cases applies to all regions apart from Africa where the incidence rate remained the same as the week before.

Brazil is still the hardest-hit country in the world with 494,153 new Covid-19 cases, namely a 20% increase. The country is followed by the United States of America (461,190 new cases; 8% increase), France (161,159 new cases; 12% increase), Italy (155,076 new cases; 12% increase), and India (148,249 new cases; 30% increase).

As for the death toll, it globally decreased, but increased in Eastern Mediterranean (7% increase), and in Western Pacific (14% increase).
