In France, in intensive care units, nothing changes. Or almost. This Sunday June 6, 2021, data released by Santé Publique France show the number of people hospitalized in intensive care or critical care has been stagnating. This toll stays around 14,525 against 14,532 the day before, and 16,775 a week before.
In details, hospitalizations are still at the same level on a nationwide basis. Therefore, the number of patients in ICU or in one of these units remains stable: 154 new patients have been taken in over the past 24 hours, for a total of 2,527 at the moment in ICU against 2,525 the day before. Same result in "critical care" units, expected to take care of the most severe cases. In overall France, 52 new Covid-19 sick have been hospitalized over the past 24 hours.
It has been more than one week that the patient toll in these units declined below 3,000. By comparison, this toll peaked to 7,000 patients in ICU when the first wave peaked in April 2020.
