This May 26, 2021, the World Health Organization reveals the B.1.617 variant – more commonly known as Indian variant – has been reported in at least 53 territories across the world, mainly in India, but as well as in the United Kingdom. “A few days ago, Germany announced extra measures (…) for people coming from the United Kingdom and France will make similar measures”, Attal explained this Wednesday.
Yesterday evening, the spokesman detailed the upcoming measure. Therefore, this compulsory 7-day self-isolation period will be instated from Monday May 31, 2021.
Furthermore, a compelling reason will be required “for all foreign citizens wishing to enter France from the United Kingdom”. And a PCR or antigenic test from less than 48 hours will be required from “anyone entering France from the United Kingdom”.
For the record, so far, quarantine was compulsory for travelers from 16 countries including India, Brazil and Argentina.
