This morning on France Inter, infectious disease specialist Karine Lacombe claims that because of the high contagiousness of the Delta variant, “in France, whether one will be vaccinated, or one will have been sick”.

Since the Delta variant hit France, the contamination toll has been rising again, making people worried, especially in some oversea territories where new restrictions have been decided in Guadeloupe and Martinique.
In mainland France, the white scheme has been activated in Corsica, in the PACA area and in Occitania.

We must say the Delta variant is very contagious. In their latest report, Santé Publique France reveals this new strain is 40 to 60% more transmissible than the Alpha strain respectively 60 and 30% more than the Beta and Gamma variants.

Therefore, many specialists share their worries. This Thursday August 5, 2021, invited on France Inter, infectious disease specialist Karine Lacombe predicts with a variant as contagious as Delta, “in France, whether one will be vaccinated, or one will have been sick”.

During the interview on France Inter, the head of infectious disease unit at the Saint-Antoine hospital also wanted to raise awareness about always-younger patients. “The average age of people in ICU is younger than 60 years old. […] It is no longer what happened during the first of second wave”, the infectious disease specialist explained before adding: “there are more and more teens showing long-term Covid”.
