There are fewer Covid-19 contaminations in France. According to the latest data shared by Santé Publique France, the new daily coronavirus case toll keeps declining in the country with 10,969 contaminations reported over the past 24 hours in the evening of Thursday September 9, 2021. The trend has been going on since the week before, this on the previous Thursday, over 15,000 cases have been reported by the public health agency.

At the same time, other indicators of the Covid-19 epidemic mark a slow but significant decrease. In addition to the new daily case toll, the positivity rate has been decreasing (it measures the proportion of positive cases in the number of people tested). Over the past seven rolling days, it dropped to 2.3% this Thursday while it was standing at 2.4% the day before and 2.6% the week before.

Furthermore, good news – relative given the delayed “school start” effect – also involve hospitalization data. With 10,323 people hospitalized for Covid this Thursday, against 10,438 on Wednesday. If you look at the data for the past seven days, the decline is strong: 3,777 hospitalizations, including 1,009 in ICUs, against 4,651 reported on the previous Thursday (including 1,067 in ICUs). Besides, over 73.4% of the population has been already given one dose of Covid-19 vaccine. Let us hope the declining trend goes on!

And what if Covid vaccine was compulsory in France...? The idea is gaining ground for Parlementarians as in late August they filled in a bill proposal at the Senate aiming at making the vaccine compulsory.
