Every year, chocolate-maker and pastry chef Jean-Paul Hévin creates a delicious chocolate Epiphany Cake shining a light on exceptional cocoa he went to collect all over the world.
And for this Epiphany 2022, the chocolate-maker master provides us with a double flaky pastry cake: a plain vanilla butter puff pastry and another puff pastry based on dark chocolate.
This “Il était un petit navire” cake based on almon cream is filled with Mexican Grand Cru chocolate chips and spiced up with a subtle lime cream. Delicious!
Thin and delicate, the Epiphany cake is very tasty, and although we tasted it cold, the chef told us it tastes even better after popping it for 10 minutes in an oven pre-heated to 170°C or 338°F (after your turned off the oven, of course!).
Serving 2, 6 or 8 foodies, it will delight small and grown-up gourmands. All the more so that it holds a lovely small boat-shaped bean, ready to sail the sea made of confectioner’s sugar on the cake.
Now, enjoy and good luck!
