On the occasion of the 36th edition of European Heritage Days on September 21 and 22, 2019, the Musée de l’Armée in Paris organizes visits, concerts and other workshops. A unique experience to live out with your family.
European Heritage Days 2019 at the Musée de l’Armée – program:
Supervised by a chief Herald, young knights and their squires (naming their parent-s) will have to chase down fantastic creatures hidden in the ancient weapon and armor collectoins of the museum. After this quest, our young knights will make a magic shield.
Duration: 1 hour, from 3 to 6 years old and their parents. Group of 10 children, each one has to be accompanied by an adult.
Exceptional display in the Salle Niox of original works that are not displayed throughout the permanent visit. A selection of rare books, drawings, engravings and photographs about "Arts and Entertainments". Professionals will be available to answer your questions and highlight the trades linked to preserving graphic arts and the documentation of the collections.
Duration: 30 minutes. Group of 20 people maximum. Meeting point in the Hall Saint-Vincent.
Completely interactive, the monument is subject to guided tours on European Heritage Days. Discover the how and why the décor of this special monument has been created, why choosing such a scenography, how medias are selected and presented to the public. The visit will also be the occasion to highlight some historical events presented in these areas.
Duration: 40 minutes. Access conditions: free tour by registration within limited number of places.
Since Spring 2019, the Musée de l'Armée has been providing visitors a tour in four languages (French, English, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese) for children and adults about the story of the Invalides, its inhabitants and the different institutions it houses from its creation by Louis XIV in 1670 to nowadays. On the pillars in the Main Courtyard, go and discover an exceptional site with multiple aspects, hospital, military necropolis, church as well as cultural venue and high place in hommage to the Nation.

Supported by the Napoleon Foundation, the Musée de l'Armée offers a whole bunch of songs and texts from Arnaud Marzorati's La Légende Impériale and its Lunaisiens ensemble, as well as pieces in great Napoleon fanfare performed dressed as they used to during the 1st empire and with ancient instruments: hunting horns, half moon tambourines, natural horns, military trombone, keyed trumpets, drums, timbals with Les Cuivres Romantiques. Free admission within limited number of places.
