Paris Musée Guimet opens its doors for free on the occasion of the 36th edition of European Heritage Days taking place on September 21 and 22, 2019. The occasion to discover one of the major museums about Asian culture in Paris and especially Hôtel Heidelbach and its gardens. Caution, by registration.

The Musée Guimet isn’t over revealing you its secrets. On the occasion of the 36thedition of European Heritage Days, the Musée national des arts asiatiques – MNAAG [National museum of Asian Arts] – offers a unique tour of Hotel Heidelbach on Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22, 2019.

Built between 1913 and 1915 by the Heidelbach couple and set 150 meters from the Musée Guimet, it's both a place where Chinese furniture collections are displayed for visiors and a relaxing area. Its garden - that reopened in spring 2018 - houses a tea pavilion, the chashitsu.

A pavilion – the chashitsu – designed by architect Nakamura Masao and built in 2001 by the best artisans from the country of the Rising Sun where you can come and discover the tea ceremony and how important it is in Asian culture and traditions. Its architecture is an ideal of peace and modesty as well as an example of extreme refinement in terms of the used timber.

Please note that the tour is by reservation per mail, starting Monday September 9, 2019.
