European Heritage Days 2019 at the Czech Republic Embassy

For European Heritage Days, meet on September 21 and 22, 2019 at the Czech Republic Embassy to discover a place filled with history! Visit the embassy, decorate gingerbreads, discover exhibitions and enjoy music workshops.

How about visiting the Czech Republic without leaving Paris? For the 36th European Heritage Days, the Czech Republic Embassy opens on Saturday September 21 and Sunday 22, 2019 to all so that you can visit the building.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, discover this monument set a stone’s throw from the Eiffel Tower and built in 1912 based on blueprints by architect Pierre Humbert. The ground floor includes three lounges and a garden you can visit freely. Also on the menu, a gingerbread decoration workshop during which children and parents are invited to try their hands at baking alongside artist Andrea Schmidt in the embassy’s garden? You’ll also be able to discover one of the sweet specialties of the country, perníčky. This workshop is open on Saturday from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and on Sunday from 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Art lovers can also attend a splendid exhibition about works by artist Andrea Schimdt, take part in French music entertainment alongside Kryštof Mařatka. On the occasion, you can discover:

  • Leoš Janáček – Piano sonata 1.X.1905, 1st movement - Foreboding
  • Kryštof Mařatka - Meditation on popular Czech instruments with piano and soloist musician (2019)
  • Rémy Courgeon/Kryštof Mařatka - La mélodie errante – musical poem, inspired by five European countries, creation (in French) (2019)
  • Antonín Dvořák - Symphony "From the New World" 1st Movement, Adagio - Allegro molto, (1893) arrangement for piano by K. Mařatkat
