European Heritage Days 2019 at Paris Arab World Institute (AWI)

The Arab World Institute (AWI) set in Paris 5th arrondissement takes part in the 36th edition of European Heritage Days. This September on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22, 2019 meet with your family for a program full of visits and workshops.

For European Heritage Days 2019, the Arab World Institute sees on a big scale. For September 21 and 22, 2019, this cultura center also called the "Beaubourg Arabe" provides a lovely program of tours and entertainments around the Arabian culture.

You're invited to visit the museum for free all weekend long to discover the Arabian world and the different cultures that contributed to its identity since the Antiquity. Let's make the best of it to discover the third biennale of photographers promoting the Lebanese scene this year.

Uncommon guided tours...

If you love the concept of guided tours, good news: two show-tours expecting you on Saturday September 21, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to make you discover the hidden face of the Arab World Institute and other surprises. Narrative tours are also planned and take you to a wolrd filled with fantastic characters and ceatures showing all the works displayed in a new light. This meeting to the heart of myths and legends expects you on Saturday September 21 at 4 p.m. and Sunday September 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Another guided tour expects you as well for European Heritage Days at the Arab World Institute. It takes you on a walk in the 5th arrondissement to discover the Poetic Arabian Paris with theater man Léon Bonnaffé on Sunday September 22 at 3 p.m.

Architecture fans are not left out with the tour-workshops telling you more about the very special design of the Arab World Institute. An enlightening tour closing with a modeling workshop to create a model of the building...

The Arab World Institute also provides a good share of workshops aiming at promoting Arabian culture. An Arabian calligraphy workshop expects you on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, you can even attend a class introducing you to Arabic from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

And if you've always dreamed of having the world hanging to every word, don't miss the class about the art of Hakawati to learn how to tell a story like the great storytellers. Meet on Sunday September 22 at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

... And beautiful meetings

You can also enjoy beautiful cultural and art meetings. A performance called "Mirage... Sarâb" will revolve in two times during this cultural wekeend mixing the art of painting to the art of music. For 75 minutes, Syrian painter Nagham Hodaifa will create a charcoal calligraphy-drawing that will miror - on each side - a line of horizon on a roll of paper, the whole at the same time as an Andalusian poem celebrating nature and gardens performed by trio Sabil. To attend the birth of this art, let's meet on Saturday September 21, 2019 at 3 p.m. and Sunday September 22 at 10:30 a.m.!

Last but not least, On Saturday September 21 at 4:30 p.m., the Arab World Institute will provide a literary meeting with Mahi Binebine. For an hour, the writer will be here to present his latest book "Rue du Pardon" but also to talk about his vision of the Arab World.
