Middle Ages fans, this tour for European Heritage Days 2019 is made for you! On September 21 and 22, visit the Tour Jean-Sans-Peur in Paris 2nd arrondissement for a guided tour at a very small cost (€2 instead of €7 to €10).
This building built during the Hundred Years’ War is one of the last and perfectly kept tracks of the Residence of Dukes of Burgundy in Paris. Its magnificent staircase is topped by a sculpted vault exclusive in France and the five stories make an exceptional place perfect to (re)discover the Middle Ages. An experience all the more unique since the vestiges of the medieval time in Paris are quite rare.
For European Heritage Days, guided tours lasting about forty minutes are held every thirty minutes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (last tour at 5:30 p.m.) and will allow you to explore this uncommon place. The tour will end with the Crimes and justice in the Middle Ages exhibition. Presented for the 600th anniversary of the assassination of John the Fearless, it will tell you everything about the judiciary system at the medieval era from a new angle. But careful, to be part of it, you have to sign up by calling +33 (0)1 40 26 20 28.
The second temporary exhibition of the Tower is called Crimes and rapines, small and major cases in Eastern Paris (1180-1914) is free of charge and access. It will tell you everything about unknown cases that happened in Paris 19th and 20th arrondissements.
