Show fans, keep reading! The Théâtre Mogador takes part for the very first time in the 36th edition of European Heritage Days, taking place on September 21 and 22, 2019. Two days during which Parisians and tourists can discover this renown monument in a new light thanks to exclusive tours!
A theater built in 1913, inaugurated in 1919 with the future president of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, it later became “one of the biggest Parisian venues”. All in all, the building enjoys 1600 seats and is now a theater almost dedicated to musicals only. But it hasn’t been always so… When it was inaugurated, the theater was for ballets before welcoming musicals in the afternoon, the famous “Thés Mogador”. In the 30’s, the venue produced also – and mainly – revues and other operettas including Mistinguett and her “Ça c’est Paris” show.
Entirely renovated in 2006, the theater got all its splendor back and now houses – in addition to the varied performances available – a very curious collection of contemporary art. For European Heritage Days 2019, free tours are available on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon. In other words, the perfect moment to go backstage and discover this legendary theater… Let’s go, friends, shall we?
