A unique occasion to discover one of the most legendary hotels in Paris… This is what Hotel Scribe provides for the 36th edition of European Heritage Days on September 21 and 22, 2019. On the menu, a free tour of this building full of history and anecdotes, as well as a screening of the first-ever cinematographic session of the Brother Lumière with Maxime Lefrancq-Lumière – Louis Lumière’s grandson. The latter comes to screen the movies screened for this first historic session with the very first cinematograph in partnership with the Institut Lumière.
Built in 1863, the Scribe enjoys a long story: the brother Lumière presented in 1895 the world’s very first movie while many artists and celebrities stayed at this legendary hotel such as Josephine Baker who made it her Parisian pied-à-terre until 1968. Hotel Scribe also housed the headquarters of the prestigious Jockey Club. In other words, the occasion to discover one of the greatest monuments in Paris… Let’s go, friends, shall we?
