For the Journées du Patrimoine 2023, the Musée Eugène Delacroix invites you to plunge into the world of the famous painter. A true place of life, its bucolic setting will charm every visitor who passes through its doors. This weekend, September 16 and 17, 2023, we're taking advantage of the Journées du Patrimoine to discover this place, its history and its treasures.
Located in the former apartments and studios of Eugène Delacroix, this museum was born of the determination of several leading painters of the 1920s. Maurice Denis, Paul Signac, Édouard Vuillard and Ker-Xavier Roussel, to name but a few, wanted to create a place to pay tribute to the painter they admired. Thus,Eugène Delacroix 's former residence became a museum in his honor.
In this " studio-museum " in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, you can immerse yourself in the artist's intimate work, through a collection of Delacroix 's paintings, frescoes, lithographs and drawings, as well as objects brought back by the painter from his trip to the Orient, and works by artists contemporary with Delacroix.
