For European Heritage Days 2020 in Paris, it is hard to miss the Arc de Triomphe. Proudly standing at the end of the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, this historic monument has witnessed many highlights of the history of Paris and France. From the return of Napoleon I’s ashes to the soccer celebrations, via military parades, since 1886, the Arc de Triomphe has been a true symbol of Paris.
Under its arches, it houses the grave of the unknown soldier whose flame burn forever. And at the top, it features incredible views all over Paris. But to discover the Arc de Triomphe from top to bottom, you have to be brave: about 284 steps await you. And since you climb up, you have to climb down and we let you down your math. But trust us, it’s worth it.
All the more since on European Heritage Days on September 19 and 20, 2020, the Arc de Triomphe is free of charge from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Yet, booking is mandatory because of the health crisis. All along your ascend, you will discover the story of the construction of this pharaonic building and admire the details before discovering breathtaking views! And if you are very curious, you can also ask the guides about the monument as well as the Unknown Soldier. A good opportunity to discover an unmissable monument in Paris.
