This year again, the Théâtre du Châtelet takes part in the event. This theater is a true Hausmann architecture gem, of the same style that has been making Paris famous. Inaugurated in 1860, it sits for over two centuries in the Place du Châtelet, a stone’s throw from the Seine river. For European Heritage Days 2022 in Paris, you can discover in a new light the richness of this emblematic theater ordered by the Baron Haussmann and discover its story and all its secrets. From the terrace with incredible views of Paris to the show venue, to the foyers, you will be blown away.
You are expected this Saturday September 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., for exclusive guided tours of the Théâtre du Châtelet. Thanks to a art history-specialized lecturer, you will move around the splendid background designed by Théâtre imperial du Châtelet architect Gabriel Davioud. You will discover the renovated rooms so close to their original state we feel like going back in time.
And for the very first time, the theater opens the doors of the decoration workshop. This exclusive tour will offer you to discover what happens when setting up pieces and building the background. You will learn more about unknown trades related to this art: designer, locksmith, carpenter, scene shifter, painter, prop master, sculptor, upholsterer.
