European Heritage Days 2022: Le Rex movie theater

One of Île-de-France’s most iconic and historic movie theaters is set in Châteney-Malabry in the 92 department. Inaugurated by Jean Marais, Yves Montand, Edith Piaf and Jean Cocteau in 1944, the Centre d’Art Cinématographique Le Rex is on for European Heritage Days and it is free of charge! Meet on Saturday September 17.

European Heritage Days do not involve museums only! This unique event involves all cultural places, including movie theaters! Every year, for a September weekend, all these places – whether they are open to the public or not – open their doors to people for free! This is the perfect occasion to improve your culture and discover the most intriguing places. And the 39th European Heritage Days will be held on Saturday September 17 and Sunday 18, 2022.

This year, the Centre d’Art Cinématographique Le Rex takes part in the event and opens. Inaugurated in 1944 by Jean Marais, Yves Montand, Edith Piaf and Jean Cocteau, Le Rex is a must in Châteney-Malabry (92). This is an indie movie theater listed as an art house. It has two auditoriums, an editing studio and an exhibition area. But its Art Deco style makes it one of the most beautiful theaters in Île-de-France.

European Heritage Days 2022 program:

  • Guided tour of Le Rex

On Saturday September 17 only, visit backstage of Le Rex, its auditoriums, and its editing studio. The tour will be guided and commented by the theater’s team.

From 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Free of charge, upon registration.
