The Journées du Patrimoine 2023 are an opportunity to enter some of the most private and best-hidden places in France. On the scale of fashion, workshops, studios and other dedicated museums are a godsend for couture enthusiasts! During this exceptional weekend, guided tours take visitors behind the scenes of luxury tailoring, to learn about the history of the great couturiers, and to see howart and fashion interact.

You might think that these institutions are concentrated mainly in Paris, the fashion capital of the world, but think again! Some spots are exceptions to the rule, off the beaten track. In the Île-de-France region, for example, several ateliers work in tandem with fashion houses.

Such is the case for Studios Frank Horvat, located in the photographer's former home in Boulogne-Billancourt. A leading fashion photographer, photojournalist and digital pioneer, Frank Horvat 's eclectic body of work marked the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. His fame became international when, in the 60s, he broke the codes of fashion photography and renewed the genre. The artist passed away in 2020, leaving behind numerous photographs and archives, carefully preserved in his studio, nestled in his studio house, a large black building resembling an inverted ship's hull.
