For European Heritage Days, the Château de Saint-Jean de Beauregard invites you to discover the estate during self-guided tours, guided tours and workshops held on Saturday September 18 and Sunday 19, 2021. Restored by the owners, this family-owned house has kept its authenticity for an exclusive dive into the 17th century.
Still inhabited, the castle enjoys the biggest dovecote in Île-de-France, as well as a surprising flowered kitchen garden, unique in the world because of its diversity of plants. It has also been listed as Jardin Remarquable or Remarkable Garden, a label created in 2004 by the Ministry of Culture to acknowledge gardens and parks showing a cultural interest.
Widely open onto the surrounding nature thanks to its double exposition, this genuine “transparent” castle opens in the East with a French formal garden, and an exceptional panorama that owed it the name of Beauregard, and in the West with the courtyard of honor and the moats offering a magnificent perspective lined with centenary old lime trees. Inhabited all year long, it is entirely furbished and is filled with many portraits and memorabilia of the family. From the summer lounge to the library to the green lounge and the dinning room, the indoor decoration has been incredibly preserved and show a delicate and sophisticated lifestyle.
Magistral interpretation of the art of flowered kitchen garden, the kitchen garden of Saint-Jean de Beauregard is one of the favorite resorts of garden fans from all over the world. Natural extension of the dovecote and typical of the kitchen gardens from the 17th century, it has been entirely restored according to the original plans kept in the archives. In this genuine garden of delights, flowers and fruits play hide and seek, with rare and forgotten vegetables, between grape greenhouses and seed greenhouses, drainage ditches, pools, fruit trees and grape conservation chambers. More than ever, September is all about profusion and the occasion to discover the collections of dahlias, cucurbits, and centenary-old fruit trees.
