European Heritage Days are back on September 17 and 18, 2022, in Paris and Île-de-France. On the occasion, the Museum of Modern Art unveils a fabulous program with dance performance, architectural tours and plastic art workshops for the youngest. It has it all to bring the family together!

Here we go for European Heritage Days in Paris and Île-de-France. This is one of the major events of the Fall: every year, in September, this cultural event takes place in Europe and unveils heritage in a new light. For a weekend, free tours, uncommon entertainments and quirky activities come to museums and monuments, castles and in spots usually closed to the public. Outside, in front of the museum, or by the windows, children will draw the Eiffel Tower from different angle and re-create it like Robert Delaunay’s castles.

  • European Heritage Days 2022 | Tour Eiffel, la grâce industrielle for 7-10 y.o.

Hours: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Symbol of modernity and avant-garde, the Eiffel Tower inspired a lot of poets and painters.
Children observe paintings inspired by Robert Delaunay in which the Eiffel Tower unveils thousands of facets, shapes and colors. Then, they will have to invent a Tower mixing a gigantic look but airy lightness.

  • European Heritage Days 2022 | CUNNINGHAM EVENT

Hours: 2 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Rates and booking information: free access without prior booking as long as seats are available

Ashley Chen, Anna Chirescu and Cheryl Therrien imagine a Cunningham Even around works from the Anni and Josef Albers donation. Within the museum, dancers reactivate pieces from the repertoire drawing in the choreographic material of Merce Cunningham’s early works and the random processes dear to the Cage/Cunningham couple. For instance, they will perform the Dime a Dance play performed in 1953 at the Black Mountain College.

Program:

2 p.m.: participative warmup with the audience led by Cheryl Therrien, former dancer from the Cunningham Company and professor at the Paris CNSMD.
The audience is encouraged to take part in a Cunningham warmup with the dancers.

From 3 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.: Walking event in the rooms of the Anni and Josef Albers donations and the permanent collections.
Reactivation of Dime a dance.
Written piece like “a bag of dance” by Cunningham including thirteen sequences – solos, duos, trios… - seven have been selected by a random process determining the order, duration and number of dancers…
