The Musée du Carnavalet is taking part in the 40th edition of the Journées du Patrimoine on the weekend of Saturday September 16 and Sunday September 17, 2023. The Museum of the History of Paris will be offering tours of its collections.

The Musée Carnavalet, a Paris museum specializing in the history of the capital, is taking part in the Journées du Patrimoine 2023. An opportunity to discover the most Parisian of museums, after a major four-year renovation. Join us on Saturday and Sunday, September 16 and 17, 2023, for a series of visits to discover the museum's collections.

From the Middle Ages to the present day, via the Renaissance, the French Revolution, the Empire, the wars, the Republics... Each moment in history is illustrated and explained in this museum. The capital is at the heart of these collections: you'll find it in the paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, furniture, precious and antique objects and thousands of historical items on display in this magnificent museum.

The Musée Carnavalet is the most Parisian of the city's museums. Its vocation is to present the history of Paris, from prehistory to the present day, in all its diverse aspects. Historical in essence, the Musée Carnavalet is nonetheless a museum of art, presenting essentially original works, faithful to the very genius of Paris.

To help us discover its collections, the Musée Carnavalet is offering special tours on September 16 and 17, 2023, for the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days). Discover the program:

  • Crisis, climate, resilience
    Throughout its history, Paris has seen its share of disasters and crises (climatic, health, political...). But how has it coped with them, and what means of action have been implemented over the centuries to preserve itself, overcome them or limit their effects? Come and find out on this themed tour of the museum's works.
