Even though closed, the Musée de Carnavalet takes part in European Heritage Days on September 19 and 20, 2020 in Paris. And the museum of the history of Paris offers an urban, guided, free stroll by registration.

The Musée Carnavalet is a superb building in the heart of the Marais and devoted to the History of Paris and is simply taking part in European Heritage Days 2020 even though it has been under renovations since 2016. It is said to reopen in 2021 and the grand re-opening is very awaited by fans. But in the meantime, on September 19 and 20, 2020 you can enjoy exclusive tours outside its walls and in the neighborhood.

This year's guided tour planned revolves around the theme “Il était une fois un musée au Coeur du Marais” [Once upon a museum in the heart of the Marais]. Before enjoying the history of Paris from its reopening, the Musée Carnavalet invites you to discover its own story. You can also discover the issues of its renovation during this 1-hour tour and I bet you will be all the more impatient to see it reopening! Meet at 23 rue de Sévigné at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The tour is free of charge but you must sign up online, on Paris Musées website, from August 20, 2020. And because of the health crisis, groups are limited to 10 people, and facemasks are mandatory, obviously.
