If you have never been to the Hotel de Ville de Paris, you shall make the best of European Heritage Days 2021 to do so. And this is the perfect occasion. Even though the building has been built only in 1882, it is a Parisian heritage jewel, listed as Historic Monument.
As a matter of fact, Paris City Hall had to be re-built after a fire in 1871. Architects Théodore Ballu and Deperthes will complete an exploit when rebuilding the ancient city hall in under ten years, with major improvements. Paris City Hall then becomes the most modern public building in that time. It is connected to an electricity supply, to a phone supply and is fitted with central heating and lifts.
By registrations, come and visit this Parisian institution from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. On the menu this year, a walk in the reception halls richly decorated, the Paris Council room and the Mayor’s Office! Enjoy the architecture, furnitue and works of art, such as the model for the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier!
Moreover, you are invited to discover on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and take part in a volunteer worksite to renovate the heritage - in France and abroad - or how to join an association preserving the heritage next to your. On the stand, come and try your hand at stone carving. A way to help and understand how craftsmen and craftswomen work.
And also attend a Pastoral, written by poet and songwriter Catherine des Roches staging female and male shepherds who are in love or friends. Performances are held on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4:30 p.m.
