For the Journées du Patrimoine 2023, the Philharmonie de Paris unveils its program. Inaugurated on January 14, 2015, the Cité de la Musique is a building of the future, our heritage for future generations: designed by Jean Nouvel to house the Orchestre de Paris (which has taken up residence there in 2019), music workshops and the Musée de la Musique, the building is a fine structure that has its place in our heritage.
The building is located in the south-eastern part of the Parc de La Villette, on the site of the former Paris-Bestiaux railway station, closed in 1977. It comprises a 1400-seat concert hall, Salle Pierre Boulez, as well as several exhibition spaces, areas for educational workshops and rehearsal rooms.
In addition to its classical music concerts and other events, the Philharmonie de Paris is also renowned for its ultra-immersive exhibitions, which plunge you right into the heart of the subject matter, always revolving around music or a particular artist who has marked his or her generation: David Bowie, Barbara, The Velvet Underground... These are just some of the retrospectives that have made this institution such a success.
A great place to discover the world of music in a different light!
