It's a date we all look forward to every year: the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) give us the opportunity to discover and visit the most beautiful cultural and historic sites in France and Europe! To mark the occasion, over 1,500 sites in the Île-de-France region will be opening their doors free of charge on the weekend of September 16 and 17, 2023.
For lovers of architecture and history, this is your chance to find out more about the châteaux of the Île-de-France region! These majestic monuments are among the must-see attractions during the Journées du Patrimoine, with guided tours, events and games to immerse you in the history of these exceptional sites.
And there's no shortage of châteaux in the Île-de-France region! Almost every département in the region boasts one or two palaces and royal estates. From medieval fortresses to Renaissance palaces and imperial residences, these witnesses toFrench history are true works of art waiting to be explored! What's more, the majority of these châteaux are adorned with magnificent gardens, making for a lovely stroll in the September sunshine...
