The Champs Elysées will be pedestrian one Sunday per month starting from May 2016. After the recent success of the car free day, the idea of walking down one of the most beautiful places in the world without hearing any car around is quite exciting. This decision, announced by Anne Hidalgo during the wishes of the elected members of the Council of Paris on January 6th 2016, follows the path of the anti-pollution plan launched in the French capital. Next session: October 7, 2018 right after the White Night!
With "Paris Respire", the City of Paris intends to reduce its fine-particle emissions. And starting this month, the car-free area will extend to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th arrondissements allowing pedestrians to fully enjoy the city center.
The antipollution plan keeps on growing, leading to circulation restrictions for the oldest cars and trucks since July 2017.
Please note that on the occasion, some will make the best of it to promote green tourism, opening the way to many good deals. Photo shoots in the middle of the world's most beautiful avenue, breathtaking pictures from the top of the Arc de Triomphe, picnics in the middle of the avenue...
