Today, the Eiffel Tower’s luminous beam is an integral part of the Parisian landscape so much that we could forget it was installed in 1999 only to celebrate the new millennium at the same time as the thousands of lights that make the Iron Lady sparkle.
You can see the light up to 80 km away thanks to the two beams turning at 360°. On modernization grounds, they will be turned off from August 28 to October 10, 2017. But worry not, the Eiffel Tower keep making your eyes sparkle with joy.
Every evening, from 8 p.m., the Eiffel Tower is adorned with its magical golden covering and sparkles every hour on the hour for the first ten minutes. The Eiffel Tower doesn’t only light up, it really sparkles.
If you happen to end your day anywhere near the Iron Lady when it starts sparkling, you can hear people exclaiming in glee and some even applause this magical lightning.
Did you know that there are about 20,000 flashing lights on the tower that have been installed to celebrate the new millennium on New Year’s Eve? It’s now a true night-time show that you should see in Paris.
But that’s not all! The Eiffel Tower is going under modernization works so that it can be as welcoming as possible for the 2024 Olympic Games and the 2025 World Fair. Therefore, the metal gates will be replaced with bulletproof glass windows.
