The “king of carnies”, at war with the Paris Authorities, is back for the Holidays with the opening of his Christmas market at the Tuileries from November 24, 2018 to January 6, 2019. A remarkable return a year after being excluded from the Champs-Elysées.

New round for Marcel Campion and his Christmas market. After being excluded from the Champs-Elysées last year, the “king of carnies” and his stalls should be back by the end of the year, from November 24, 2018 to January 6, 2019.

And it’s at the Tuileries Garden that the businessman will settle in since the Louvre – owner of the garden – has announced they wanted to rent him the place for his market. “Mr. Campion is one of our regular customers […]. He has submitted a file relying on a design brief to respect”, the cultural institution explains. It continues: “We gave us our agreement earlier this summer. Now, we also expect a feedback from the police headquarters”.

A revenge for Marcel Campion: “Mayor Anne Hidalgo excluded me from the Champs-Elysées claiming that I was doing in made in China. Here, I will propose 80% of French stands”, the carny said to our colleagues from France Inter. A return possible thanks to the Elysées, and particularly to the Minister for Culture the carny met to plead his cause.

A decision that makes the municipality cringe: “If it’s the case, it’s a big mistake for the government” one of Paris Mayor close relative said. About the market, the latter is called “La Magie de Noël” [Christmas Magic] and is said to include a hundred huts, a dozen merry-go-rounds as well as an ice-skating rink. For the record, the Champs-Elysées Christmas market attracted every year some 13 million visitors.
