Oribiky: new self-service electric bike service in Paris

Oribiky, remember this name since it’s the brand-new service sharing bicycles that should be arriving very soon in Paris. The bonus? Its electric assistance that could really make the difference for many people!

Should we return to the success of the electric scooters in Paris? Since its launch this summer, Parisians are crazy about them, multiplying journeys aboard this new self-service toy.

Moving on to bicycles, some changes are about to pop up since Oribiky will come very soon to Paris with a self-service bike rental service. But careful though, Oribiky has a very serious asset; it only offers bikes with an electric assistance.

This service provided by Oribiky is to be discovered in November 2018, for a test version, before a bigger launch with a deployment of 400 “semi-floating” bikes with electric assistance. Note that borrowed bikes are to be returned to a very precise zone, delimited on the application.

To go even further in the details, these bikes with an electric assistance will have an autonomy of 100 km and can go up to 25kmh. To borrow those bikes, allow €0.10 per minute, or €19.90 per month or even €190 per year with 20 free minutes per hour of using.

As a reminder, Uber also expects to come to the market with self-service electric bikes in Paris with a launch planned in early 2019, a fleet of bikes with electric assistance called Jump!
