Oribiky is a brand-new bike-sharing service due to be launched in Paris very soon. The best part? Its electric assistance, which could well make the difference for many Parisians!

Need we revisit the success of electric scooters in Paris? Since their launch this summer, Parisians have been crazy about them, multiplying the number of journeys they make on this new self-service toy.

On the bike front, there could be a change too, as Oribiky prepares to arrive in Paris with its self-service bike rental service. But Oribiky has a serious advantage: it offers only electrically-assisted bicycles.

This service offered by Oribiky will be available to discover during November 2018, in a test version, before a larger launch with a deployment of 400 "semi-floating" electric-assist bikes. Note that borrowed bikes will have to be returned within a specific zone, delimited on the app.

To go into more detail, these electrically-assisted bikes will have a range of 100 km and can go up to 25 km/h. To borrow these bikes, you'll need to pay 10 euro cents per minute, €19.90 per month or €190 per year, with 20 free minutes per hour of use.

Uber is also planning to enter the self-service electric bike market in Paris, with the launch of a fleet of electrically-assisted bikes called Jump ! in early 2019.
