We could think this is a bad joke, but it unfortunately isn't. Download Festival Paris - that was expected to teturn from May 29 to 31, 2020 at Bretigny Base 217 after a break in 2019 - has announced the fourth edition will be cancelled because of major renovations on the RER line C.

"The edition 2020 of Download Festival will not happen": the famous Ile-de-France metal music festival has confirmed the bad news this Monday September 30, 2019.

With a press released posted on its Facebook Page, Download Festival Paris has confirmed the announcement made by Plessis-Pâté mayor to newspaper Le Parisien.

"Due to renovations on the RER line C and in the Brétigny-sur-Orge station, we are forced to cancell the edition 2020 of Download Festival planned at the Base 217.

The SNCF has announced that due to heavy renovations on the RER line C, no train will be able to serve the Brétigny-sur-Orge station on May 29, 30 and 31, 2020. In light of the complication arisen for festivalgoers who will not be able to join the festival in the safest way possible, we have decided to cancell the edition 2020 of Download Festival.

Coeur Essonne Agglomération, after trying in vain to see with the SNCF to serve the Bretigny-sur-Orge station during the weekend, duly records the decisions of the latter. Coeur d'Essonne and Live Nation deeply regret this situation".

This is some news that surprises and saddens a lot or rock and metal lovers who were impatient to reunite with Download Festival Paris after a break in 2019. The Coeur d'Essonne agglomeration that welcomes the event and Live Nation France, the festival organizer, indeed decided to hold the festival on in 2019 in order to "think about a method more sticking to the audience’s new yearnings and more suited to the sites’ new yearnings: greener, more local, more sustainable…"

The music festival was expected to return to Bretigny Base 217 from May 29 to 31, 2020 for the 4th edition, with a new lineup. But the edition 2020 of the festival will unfortunately not take place and leaves many festivalgoers speechless as they have had the chance to attend concerts of Rammstein, Korn and Iron Maiden in 2016 a the Hippodrome de Longchamp, then of Linkin Park, Prophets of Rage, System of a Down in 2017 and last but not least of Ghost, Guns N'Roses, Foo Fighters and even Ozzy Osbourne, Marilyn Manson and Volbeat in 2018.

Now, we only have to find out if this cancellation will put an end to Download Festival France...
