Since 2015, RER A users have been dreading the summer period… We must say that for four years now, the famous RER A – used by 325 million travelers every year – undergoes essential works every summer, disturbing the traffic for four weeks straight. The aim of these works? Renewing the rails and the ballast in Paris.
But careful though, this year, the work area moves between the Auber and Vincennes stations and on well-defined periods and time slots.
So, the RER A will be closed between Auber and Vincennes:
*starting at about 10 p.m. until August 2 and from 9 p.m. from August 5
Consequences? The Auber and Vincennes stations will become the temporary terminus (both stations remain open and connections will be served) during the closing periods and hours. Please also note that the RER A platforms will be totally closed at Châtelet-les-Halles, Gare de Lyon and Nation.
For the record, the connection corridor between Auber and Opéra will be closed for 2 years starting April 15, 2019.
Besides these closing periods and hours, the train traffic will be maintained between these stations but including a few extra minutes of travel between Nation and Vincennes.
We remind you that the previous works have enabled 15 kilometers of rails and replaced 10 points. At the end of the renovation works in 2021, all in all, 24 kilometers of rails and 28 points will be changed.
