For now, these metros and tramways open by night will be a test a Saturday per month for six months, between September 2019 and March 2020.
The aim? “Making Ile de France inhabitants want to go out again by night and in the weekend in Paris” Valérie Pécresse told Le Parisien.
“We will draw up a report after a 6-month test and we will decide if we need to make these Saturday openings viable or larger” Ile de France president has added.
According to Le Parisien, these tests to open metro and tramway lines by night in Paris will be set up on September 14, 2019, October 12, 2019, November 9, 2019 December 31, 2019, January 11, 2020, February 8, 2020 and March 7, 2020.
Metro lines 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 and 14 as well as tramway lines 2, 3a and 3b are involved by these night openings.
Valérie Pécresse also added that “it is not possible to open the metro 24 hours a day because of the many maintenance works carried out by the RATP. There are over 400 of them every day”.
