Paris 2024 Summer Olympics: Île Saint Denis’s fluvial eco-district

Among the upcoming installations of the Olympic village for Paris 2024, the Île Saint Denis’s fluvial eco-district enjoys eco-friendly constructions in harmony with the Seine.

It’s undoubtedly the most symbolical Olympic village. The Pichet-Legendre project for a fluvial eco-district set on the Île-Saint-Denis is all about change. As planned, it’s said to house a part of the Olympic village for the upcoming Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.

As we can see on this air photograph, works are coming along nicely with hard-working building companies. goal: delivering the housing part for Paris 2024.

All in all, Solideo and Plaine Commune build 47,000sqm of wooden surface on a 6-hectare wide field. A project said to deliver eco-friendly constructions that are also affordable and in favor of “social mix”. Moreover, with eco-friendly materials and logistics, the innovative project is anchored on the Seine riverbanks, between nature and urban.

A DNA enjoyed by Solideo (the Olympic Delivery Authority) and the Paris 2024 committee. As a matter of fact, it’s the project supported by Plaine Commune with architecture office Philippon Kalt Architectes that has been taken on in December 2019 to welcome the upcoming Athlete village. From 2025, the premises will open to private individuals who can enjoy the large public spaces.

Created as a genuine part of a town, the neighborhood enjoys mobility centers. In other words, no car is allowed in. At the same time, Plaine Commune wishes to keep the Île’s fluvial identity. Mainly thanks to an innovative treatment of the fluvial water or a new layout of the Seine riverbanks. With stroll areas, we love it!
