Environmental movement founded by the young Swedish Greta Thunberg Fridays for Future has announced a 24-hour live stream this Friday April 24, 2020, two days after the 50th Earth Day. Goal of this virtual event? Keeping on fighting against global warming and raise awareness about environmental issues.

Before the heatlh crisis, young are used to walk in the streets across the world on Fridays to alert on environmental issues and remind the climatic emergency. Because of covid-19 and confinement measures, methods change but commitment is still as strong. Environmental association founded by Greta Thunberg Fridays for Future announced a 24-hour live this Friday April 24, 2020.

For 24 hours, the Fridays for Future movement will provide different online contents including speeches from activists and scientists in order to raise awareness about environmental issues. This virtual event is to be followed on Fridays For Future’s YouTube channel.

This Wednesday April 22, on the occasion of the 50th Earth Day, Fridays for Future put a shocking video online to remind us of the climatic emergency. Named “Our house is on fire”, the video clip alerts again on climate change.

This past April 6, the World Wildlife Fund, WWF, called France for adopting a “health, economic, and ecological safety net towards the end of the crisis. (…) The pressures we exert on nature through our unsustainable consumption and production patterns are largely at the root of ecological and health crises” the NGO explains before adding “The COVID-19 pandemic could be a new signal of the urgency to change our models of society and take the necessary measures”.
