Restaurants, cafés and bars reopened this past Tuesday June 2 in all departments, but have only reopened their terraces in orange areas. In his new address on June 14, French President Emmanuel Macron let the people know that "the entire territory", excluding Mayotte and French Guiana, will be green starting tomorrow. Consequently, restaurants and cafés in Paris and Ile-de-France can reopen from Monday June 15, 2020.

While some stores will gradually reopen from May 11th as part of the deconfinement plan, restaurants, bars and cafés had to remain closed. Since then, many people are wondering when they will be allowed to open again. Since then, restaurants, cafés and bars have been able to reopen in green area, but with "temporary restrictions" in orange areas that is to say Paris and Ile-de-France. In these areas,  sole café, bar and restaurants terraces are allowed to reopen. This measure will be set for at least three weeks.

If the first days were rather favorable for the reopening of terraces in Ile-de-France, the weather has turned bad the next days... Since then, restaurant, café and bar owner have a long face.

In his latest address on June 14, French President Emmanuel Macron said the "entire territory" will be green starting from June 15 excluding Mayotte and French Guiana. Starting from this day, restaurants and cafés in Paris and other departments in Ile-de-France are allowed to fully reopen, keeping the health protocol.

Interviewed on June 9 on RFI, State Secretary for Tourism, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne let us know that restaurants set in Paris and Ile-de-France might fully reopen "a bit sooner than June 22", if the health situation allows it.

"As it is about restaurants, it seems the evolution of the health conditions in Ile-de-France, the progressive withdrawal of the virus, might, I hope so, bring the reopening day for restaurants forwards" he said. Of course, it will all depend on the evolution of the health situation in Ile-de-France. "Perhaps, in a few days, we will think the conditions are met to accelerate this point of view" he added.

Restaurant, café and bars terraces are increasing in Paris and Ile-de-France

Since June 2, restaurants, cafés and bars in green area can welcome patrons again, following a strict health protocolEdouard Philippe confirmed that professionals in this sector must keep one meter between each table. It is not possible to have over 10 patrons at the same table. Last but not least, facemasks are mandatory for the staff and patrons when moving around the room. Note that in cafés and bars, drinking standing up inside is banned.

In Paris and Ile-de-France, sole terraces are allowed so far. Results? Many of them pop in within the capital. The city of Paris even enabled establishments wishing to do so to widen their terracesPedestrian streets reserved for restaurants and bars are also said to be created.
