This Sunday May 10th, 2020 at 9 p.m., the city of Paris will thank Parisian volunteers and professionals who have been “mobilized throughout confinement” with portraits shows on the Eiffel Tower. This symbolical operation will air online and on social networks as confinement is still implemented!

Paris authorities cannot stop thanking Parisians and Ile-de-France inhabitants who have been working daily to fight against coronavirus. After the “Thank You Notes” on the Eiffel Tower, the lights on the Eiffel Tower and the Montparnasse Tower this past May 2nd, it is this Sunday May 10th, at 9 p.m. that a domestic event will take place. This time, portraits of Parisians will be shown on the Eiffel Tower. A banner will be streaming below the portraits and read “Heureusement, vous étiez là” [Lucky you were there].

Nursing staff, teachers, store owners, volunteers, deliver men and women, Paris city officers and so on, many professionals and volunteers will be given tribute with the showing of portraits. Careful though, as confinement will still be implemented, this symbolical operation is to be enjoyed on social networks.

This is not the only symbolical operation provided by Anne Hidalgo who wishes to grant honor citizenship of Paris to the nursing staff who worked throughout the crisis against coronavirus. A proposition she wishes the next Paris Council would adopt this next May 18th.

To these symbolical operations is added a concrete €35-bonus net per day (so, €700 a month) for all 4000 municipal officers on the frontlines. This bonus will be given to garbage collectors, nursing home staff, safety officers and even people welcoming nurses’ children, as well as the 1,400 people working at the Centre d’Action Sociale de La Ville de Paris (Social Action Association of the City of Paris).
