Today, Olivier Véran disclosed an envelop said to be used for increasing health providers’ salaries: 6 billion euros to share between the public and the private sector.

Facing health providers’ anger and distress, and about a month after launching the Ségur de la Santé – a scheme to think the hospital system over in France – Health Minister Olivier Véran has just revealed, in a meeting on that matter, the envelop said to be used for increasing health providers’ salaries: 6 billion euros.

This amount is expected to be shared between the public sector (hospitals and nursing home), as well as the private sector (social-medical establishments); it will also support a general increase of the salaries, reworking of bonuses, as well as targeted increases as for some special professions.

According to a project presented in the previous meeting, these targeted increases apply to health providing categories (nurses and assistant nurses), and medical-technical categories (laboratory technicians, radio operators).

In a document handed to trade unions, we read that this general increase of the salaries will be implemented “from July 1st” – for the public sector anyway, and its million officers, whether they are permanent post holders or contractors.

While waiting to see the money come, several hospital trade union and groups have called for another day of protest in order to get more means for the hospital and health providers, on June 30.
