The epidemic has been resurging in France and more and more measures are implemented to curb the spread of Covid-19. As clusters are still tracked down, gatherings are not recommended and even banned beyond 10 people in public places if barrier gestures are not observed. In the private circle, gatherings in closed places dramatically increase the risk of breaking out clusters.
But as nightclubs are closed and places for parties are rare, some people decide to rent housing on seasonal booking platforms in order to throw parties. But it could get harder: Airbnb has been limiting bookings to people under 25 years old since August 14, 2020 for bookings set their home if they have less than three positive feedbacks from their previous hosts.
Aiming at preventing inappropriate behaviors, this measure has been already implemented in the United-States and Canada. The first experiments overseas enabled to significantly lower the number of non-authorized parties held by this targeted category of users.
By the way, even though so far, owner of bookings listed on Airbnb were to be able to allow or not parties within their bookings, on Thursday August 20, 2020 the platform announced this kind of event was banned in places booked via the website. Booking is now capped to 16 people. The seasonal booking leader says this decision has been made “in the best interest of public health” saying throwing this kind of event amid the coronavirus pandemic was irresponsible.
