This Wednesday August 26, 2020 Jean Castex has stated facemasks will be systematic in movie theaters, theaters, and other show venues, ending social distancing and one-seat-in-two occupancy rules.

Good news for movie theaters, theaters and other show venues who are struggling because of the coronavirus crisis… This Wednesday August 26, 2020, Prime Minister Jean Castex stated on France Inter that facemasks will be systematic in these facilities, ending social distancing and one-seat-in-two occupancy rules. The decision has been made in the latest Council of Defense on Tuesday August 25, 2020.

This change is more than welcomes in show venues but the new rule will not apply to all of them: only exceptions, “areas with a high viral circulation, where there at least two obligations” the Prime Minister explains. A measure that Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot was already promoting as she received on August 19 representative of the living art, saying she wanted to end – after being requested by the show business universe – social distancing in venues.

Jean Castex also announced that the recovery plan – to be presented in early September – will include 2 billion euros for culture: “In the recovery plan, culture will enjoy an exceptional two-billion euro grant out of the one hundred billion” he said on France Inter. He went on: “This has never been made before. It means we think culture is a profitable activity. And if there is one French characteristic, it is that living with the virus means we shall also educate ourselves with the virus”.

Note that the Prime Minister is to welcome with the Ministry of Culture representatives of the show business world on Thursday August 27 and Friday 28.
