As 40% of ICU beds in Île-de-France are currently occupied by Covid patients, Ile-de-France health agency director general Aurélien Rousseau says on Twitter he “asked heads of the regional health facilities to set the white plan off to unite their resources and anticipate the days to come”.

The health situation keeps on deteriorating in Île-de-France. Yesterday it was announced that 40% of beds in ICU in the Île-de-France area were currently occupied by patients infected with Covid-19. And even worse, the agency says the occupation rate is likely to reach 50% “by the next two weeks

Therefore, this Thursday October 8, 2020, Ile-de-France health agency director general Aurélien Rousseau says on Twitter he “asked heads of the regional health facilities to set the white plan off to unite their resources and anticipate the days to come”.

Tweets reads: “1/2 In light of the pressure on ICU and conventional hospital beds, I asked heads of the regional health facilities to set the white plan off to unite their resources and anticipate the days to come. 2/2 The healthcare system has one goal: taking care of all sick. But we cannot just say so, because there is one demand applying to us all: respecting gestures that will limit the impact of the epidemic on the hospital and protect caregivers”.

The white plan will be reactivated in Île-de-France: “in light of the pressure on ICU and conventional hospital beds. [...] The healthcare system has one goal: taking care of all sick. But we cannot just say so, because there is one demand applying to us all: respecting gestures that will limit the impact of the epidemic on the hospital and protect caregivers” the ARS Île-de-France head said.

For the record, the white plan is a crisis procedure of a health facility enabling to “immediately unite means of any kind it has in case of surge of patients, or to face an exceptional health situation”.

The Health Minister says that “the white plan includes ORSAN scheme orientations and identifies the means of health facilities likely to be mustered. It defines the conditions of their employ and especially plans the terms and conditions the necessary staff will have to stay on site or, if need be, called back if the situation justifies so”.
