Starting from May 3, 2021 France starts the first step to exit lockdown. Yet curfew from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. is still implemented in mainland France. Many people then are wondering if they can take transport. Is it possible to take the train or a plane in the evening during curfew? Here is the answer.

This is now done! France starts exiting lockdown starting from May 3, 2021. Starting from this Monday, the 10km rule is no longer valid. Daytime derogatory trip certificates are now longer needed, and trips between regions can resume. Yet,  curfew from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. is still implemented in mainland France. Furthermore, a new derogatory trip certificate for curfew is available since May 3 on the government's website. From this moment on, 6 reasons enable you to travel during curfew.

This May 3, 2021, France starts exiting lockdown, completing the very first stage, but the country remains subject to curfew from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Derogatory certificates are yet possible but limited. And whoever says curfew also says the return of the derogatory trip certificates: 3 certificates are available to help you prove the necessity of your trip. These documents are to print out, copy on paper or fill in on your smartphone including via the TousAntiCovid app.

But is it still possible to travel by train or plane by night? The answer is yes, it is. As it was already the case during curfew from 8 p.m., you can travel by train, bus or plane for long-distance trip. The new derogatory trip certificate also has a special box for long-distance trip by train, plane or bus. Moreover, if you travel, you will need to show your train or plane ticket in addition to the certificate.

On December 11, minister for transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, he confirmed it was possible to travel by train or plane by night. Tickets will be used as a voucher. "Have you booked a plain or train ticket but you leave or arrive during curfew?" he asked on Twitter on December 11. "No need to cancel it: your ticket will be a certificate" the added.
