Coronavirus: 13 new departments under enhanced surveillance

To stem the spread of Covid in France, the government appears to be opting for local reconfinements. As of this Thursday, March 25, 2021, 13 new départements are now under reinforced surveillance, while 19 are concerned by local containment.

At his press briefing on February 25, 2021, Prime Minister Jean Castex indicated that 20 départements had been placed under reinforced surveillance. One week later, three departments were added to the list. The decisive criterion: an incidence rate in excess of 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. If this indicator is too high, more stringent measures may be taken, including weekend confinement.

Since March 25, 2021, 13 new départements have been placed under reinforced vigilance: Ain, Alpes de Haute Provence, Ardennes, Indre et Loire, Isère, Jura, Loir et Cher, Loire, Lozère, Marne, Meuse, Orne and Savoie. In addition, 19 départements are now under hybrid containment.

On Saturday February 27, Jean Castex met with the prefects of the first 20 departments concerned, and the general directors of the Regional Health Agencies, and the Prime Minister asked them to step up surveillance and monitoring of the health measures already in force, in particular the curfew .

Matignon thus announces that the head of government has "called on prefects to conduct in-depth consultations and to take immediate measures: reinforcement of controls on measures implemented, optimization of the vaccination campaign, deployment of saliva tests in educational establishments and compliance with directives on teleworking" .
