In order to stop the spread of Covid in France, the government seems to go for new local lockdowns. This Thursday March 25, 13 other departments are placed under strengthened surveillance, while 19 are placed in local lockdown.

Faced with the spread of the coronavirus epidemic in France, the government goes for local measures. From now on, the executive places areas where the spread of Covid-19 is the most preoccupying in the category of departments under strengthened surveillance. It means additional curbing measures are instated. Depending on the evolution of the situation, they might lead to a new local lockdown.

On February 25, 2021, during his press brief, Prime Minister Jean Castex stated that 20 departmentsare placed under strengthened surveillance. A week later, three more departments are added. The determining indicator is the incidence rate above 250 cases for 100,000 inhabitants. If this indicator is too high, measures might be strengthened including weekend lockdown.

Since March 25, 2021, 13 other departments are placed under strengthened surveillance: Ain, Alpes de Haute Provence, Ardennes, Indre et Loire, Isère, Jura, Loir et Cher, Loire, Lozère, Marne, Meuse, Orne, Savoie. Furthermore, 19 departments are now involved in hybrid lockdown.
