Faced with criticisms, Prime Minister Jean Castex passionately advocated for the French strategy against the coronavirus epidemic, saying the country should not be ashamed and the French managed to make the necessary efforts during the Holidays.

Is France poorly managing the coronavirus epidemic? Jean Castex clearly does not agree. Faced with criticisms on the vaccine campaign, the Prime Minister passionately advocated for the French strategy, encouraging not to be ashamed.

This Wednesday January 13, 2021, during a Q&A with the government, he said “France should not be ashamed of its global strategy to fight against this pandemic”. The Prime Minister also denies he was please with himself, giving credit to the French as he hails their commitments throughout the end-of-the-year period.

A few days prior to the Holiday fallout, Prime Minister Jean Castex intended to hail the French’s behaviors and how well they complied with the health restrictions during the Holidays and on New Year’s Eve. [Read more]

As for the polemic on the vaccine campaign, Jean Castex also says the strategy is going to improve for the better, reminding that vaccinating 5 million French cannot be complete in 8 days but several weeks. “It isn’t necessary to call us out at the end of the first week saying: how come did you not vaccinate 5 million people” he added.

About a week before, during the press brief on January 7, the Prime Minister also passionately advocated for the strategy led in France for the Holidays. Asked about the impact of the decision to let the French celebrate Christmas, Castex recalled measures made before this period of gatherings in order to make celebrations happen. He then briefly reviewed criticisms the government has been faced with, suspecting them of wanting to cancel Christmas, and then the criticisms made afterwards, reproaching the government with easing restrictions off on Christmas Eve.
