Because of the emergence of the Omicron variant and faced with the 5th wave hitting Europe, Morocco has decided to extend the closure of their borders until January 31, 2022 at the earliest. Main airlines RAM (Royal Air Maroc) and Air Arabia yet announced on Twitter they are to complete a few special flights.

Remember, because of the strong epidemic rise in France, Morocco announced this past November 25 they were suspending flights from and to France. Then, four days later, the Kingdom of Morocco decided to close all their air borders following the outbrea of the Omicron variant and the rise in the Covid-19 epidemic in Europe.

On Friday December 24, 2021, Morocco has decided to extend the halting of flights from and to the country at least until January 31, 2022.

The Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA) announced on Friday the "extension of the halting of all commercial flights from and to Morocco until January 31, 2022".

Shorty after, the Royal Air Maroc airline released on Twitter a statement reading they were to complete a few exceptional flights to Belgium, Spain, France, Italy and Mauritania between January 1 and 31, 2022.

Furthermore, facing with the quick spread of the new variant, Morocco ended this past Thursday the system aiming at repatriating citizens stuck abroad and has extended health emergency until January 31, 2022.

Note passengers' sea ways are on hold as well until December 31, according to Moroccan business newspaper Médias24.

Bad news for people planning to go from France to Morocco for the Holidays and Moroccan who were planning to travel to France by the end of December.

The question is when the Moroccan borders will reopen.
