Terraces are out in Paris! And now, we are all rushing to the tastiest places in town for a delicious break in the sun. And of course, there is always a few gems to discover in Paris, and sometimes, famous institutions unveil beautiful surprises.
Tea connoisseurs might already know Mariage Frères, a genuine reference. The timeless stores are found everywhere in Paris. And connoisseurs know some of these places hide intimate restaurants-tearooms we would love to keep for ourselves only.
But the secret is no longer a secret since while we wait for other tea rooms to reopen from June 9, Mariage Frères has reveled a terrace not far from the Place de l’Etoile in Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Enjoy the French capital and come and have a delicious cup of tea, perfectly brewed, to choose from hundreds of references before you go for one of the treats available on the menu.
Here, tea is not just a drink, but the delicate flavors are also improved in the kitchen with sophisticated and flavorful dishes. To make people travel without leaving Paris, this beautiful terrace unveils an exotic menu featuring specialties from all over the world, revisited the Mariage Frères way.
As for us, we went for three versions of bao available on the menu. Choose the recipe, smoked salmon, beef tataki, or vegetarian, your bao bun that comes in with charcoal, turmeric, or matcha. Anyway, you will be served a very colorful dish, making your eyes very happy before your taste buds. Each of the recipes is a nice balance of flavors, craftily worked out, especially with a nice taste of ginger for the beef version, and the smoothness of the beetroot hummus for the vegetarian version.
Careful though, although dishes are very attractive, desserts are truly heart-stopper for sweet-toothed. We can even confess that Mariage Frères is undoubtedly one of the best patisseries in Paris and their creations deserve to be known. All year around, themed and limited creations – such as the Sakura – attract connoisseurs.
When we came, we enjoyed a nice tribute to the French Open – Roland Garros – and we had a trompe l’oeil tennis ball, very light, flavored with rhubarb. A creation echoing sunny days and warmer weather.
