The coronavirus epidemic is resurging in France. And for good reason, the spread of the Delta variant – more contagious – could originate a fourth wave. So, what are the leads considered by the French government to curb this strain? Extending the health pass, compulsory vaccination, end of free tests, here is more on the matter.

French only recently revived their normal life, and new stakes are up. After the UK variant – renamed Alpha – France is to face a challenge: the spread of the Delta variant. This mutation – 60% more contagious than the Alpha variant – has already originated a resurgence in the epidemic in 11 regions. The Delta variant is even dominating in three of them, and sparks fear of causing a fourth epidemic wave.

The stake is such the French government gathered on Monday July 12, 2021 a new health defense council. On the occasion, different leads have been studied to curb the spread of the Delta variant in the country. What are the measures considered by the government?

According to BFMTV, another curfew is possible, although the French President is not ruling for it, so is full-time working from home, or even the closure of some places. Measures likely to be made in addition to compulsory vaccination for some professions, extending the health pass, no more free “comfort” PCR and antigenic tests, reinforcing quarantine, as already decided on this past July 12 during the previous defense council.
