As France is preparing for a fifth coronavirus epidemic wave - expected to hit this Fall - the population has to comply with the health pass now extended to many public places. Prime Minister Jean Castex also confirmed "comfort" screening tests will be charged from October 15, 2021.

Despite the encouraging trend at the beginning of summer, the fight against the coronavirus epidemic is not over. Now, because of the spread of the Delta variant, a fourth wave has been hitting the country this summer 2021.

As a response to this epidemic surge, the Health Pass has been extended to many public places in order to encourage the French to get vaccinated and prevent another lockdown. The government also decided to put an end to free PCR tests. Therefore, "comfort" tests will be charged starting from this Fall. This Wednesday September 8, 2021 Prime Minister Jean Castex announced the date: it will land on October 15, 2021.

From now on, only PCR or antigenic tests prescribed by a doctor or in the event of a contact-case situation will be reimbursed. Are considered as comfort tests those taken in order to get a temporary health pass to access public places. A dramatic measure expected to encourage more French to get vaccinated. For the record, the health pass caused a boom in appointments this summer 2021.
