In Europe, it is now the Delta variant that is a decisive issue, especially in the remaining non-vaccinated population. And for good reason, this mutant is 60% more contagious than the Alpha variant, the latter having already replaced the historic strain of coronavirus.
Furthermore, the Covid-19 situation in Europe relies on a fragile balance likely to be swiftly changed by the spread of the Delta variant. It is such it could cause a fourth epidemic wave. In France, a resurgence in coronavirus has been noticed already.
This Friday July 9, 2021, interviewed by France Inter, Health Minister Olivier Véran has addressed the threat this mutation represents. He says the Delta variant is about to take over all the other known strains of coronavirus. Furthermore, he thinks this mutant can dominate the country by the weekend.
