During the summer, RATP is taking advantage of a drop in ridership to carry out work on its lines. During this summer 2023 work, RER A traffic will be interrupted between Cergy-Le Haut and Conflans-Fin d'Oise stations from August 5 to 20, then between Nation and Val de Fontenay / Fontenay-sous-Bois from August 9 to 18. We tell you everything.

Like every summer, modernization work continues on the RER A. This year, new traffic interruptions are to be expected due to maintenance work on the railway infrastructure.

But this work is not without consequences and will lead to a partial interruption of passenger service. Also, the RER A will be closed between Nation and Val de Fontenay / Fontenay-sous-Bois stations for 10 days, from August 9 to 18, 2023, 24 hours a day.

In concrete terms, the Vincennes station will be inaccessible. Nation station will then become the new temporary terminus, in the direction Conflans - Fin d'Oise / Poissy / Saint-Germain-en-Laye >> Paris. Conversely, Val de Fontenay and Fontenay-sous-Bois stations will be the temporary terminus from Marne-la-Vallée Chessy and Boissy-Saint-Léger. This will be another difficulty for tourists wishing to travel to Disneyland Paris.

Another traffic interruption announced this summer on the RER A? The line will also be closed between the stations of Cergy-Le Haut and Conflans-Fin d'Oise for 16 days, from August 5 to 20, 2023, again 24 hours a day.

On this branch, Conflans-Fin d'Oise station will be the temporary terminus, and Neuville-Université, Cergy-Préfecture, Cergy-Saint-Christophe and Cergy-Le-Haut stations will be closed to passengers.

RATP specifies that alternative means of transport will be offered, notably with the introduction of replacement buses, but also with reinforcements of regular lines. "Nevertheless, travel times will be extended. We invite you to adapt your journeys and to postpone your trips as much as possible", warns the company.

As explained on the RER A blog, this interruption of traffic must allow the SNCF to renew the track and ballast. "This year's work will allow the modernization of track components that have been present for 44 years. At the end of this work, 1.2 kilometers of track will be replaced, thus improving the reliability of the installations," it says.

For its part, RATP intends to take advantage of this work to renew six switches and 1.5km of track and ballast between Nation and the junction of the Val de Fontenay / Fontenay-sous-Bois branches.

The company will also take advantage of this interruption to carry out maintenance work at Vincennes station. "These operations would have required long interruptions to traffic and, consequently, could not have been carried out at night between two passenger services. They are therefore being carried out without causing any additional inconvenience to passengers", RATP assures us.
